How often should I replace my sump pump?

I have a finished basement. If the pump fails and the water softner recycles during the night I get a flooded basement. As long as the sump pump works, alles gut. I just dont know how long to trust it. Thanks for your help.

For piece of mind, you can get what they call an "Ace in the Hole". It's a battery powered backup sump pump. There's really no way to say for sure how long yours will last, but if it does fail, or you lose power, the ace will operate until the power comes back on or you get yours replaced. Hope this helps.

since we don't know how old the current one is or what the make is or how much it's expected to work…maybe you should ask the person who put it in or the manufacturer of the pump….

The sump pump I have is Stainless Steel, it has been in use for 15 years. So all I can say is they do last for a while.

I'd suggest you re-pipe your watersoftner closer to the pipe that leaves the house,no more worries
