The sump pump I have is Stainless Steel, it has been in use for 15 years. So all I can say is they do last for a while.

since we don't know how old the current one is or what the make is or how much it's expected to work...maybe you should ask the person who put it in or the manufacturer of the pump....

For piece of mind, you can get what they call an "Ace in the Hole". It's a battery powered backup sump pump. There's really no way to say for sure how long yours will last, but if it does fail, or you lose power, the ace will operate until the power comes back on or you get yours replaced. Hope this helps.
