Which back-up basement sump pump is better? Battery powered or water powered and why??? Please help.?

I would go with something that has a constant energy source. Batteries can run out. I prefer electric sump pumps.

as a back up use the battery powered just keep the battery charged with a trickle charger — should be more dependable

I use a battery powered backup called: Watchdog! I have used it for years. It's very dependable. It doesn't eat-up batteries like an Ace in the Hole. There used to be three different price ranges. The batteries are about 100 dollars but they last 7-10 yrs.
