Kitchen Colors that can Make Your Kitchen More Attractive
These days a lot of interior designers are recommending bold colors to brighten up the appearance of kitchens in your house blueprints. Beiges and soft colors had been prominent in kitchens all over America but people have been recently using bold kitchen colors such as red, pink, cobalt blue, orange, lime green as well as turquoise. White still exists in kitchens but it is basically used for trims. Numerous interior designers are giving their approval to homeowners to use their favorite bold colors for the walls and cabinets.
In the past, homeowners have typically picked bland, light kitchen colors due to the possibility of selling their home and not wanting to turn away prospective buyers with bold colors. One of the possible reasons for the change in attitude regarding colors emanates from the homeowners believing they will stay in their house for quite a long time and they are not making plans to move into a larger home or move to a better location.
Warm Colors
Interior designers have been suggesting kitchen and basement colors such a red, orange and yellow if you desire to add some warmth to the room. If you have a small kitchen, the warm colors have the affect of making a room appear smaller than it actually is. If you decide to paint with a warm kitchen color add some white in appropriate areas in order to tone down the intensity of the warm color.
Some experts suggest that the color red evokes the emotions of a person so you might not want to get carried away with the color red in the kitchen. Since warm kitchen colors have become popular manufactures are making their faucets, cookware and other kitchen items in warm colors and copper has also become very popular in kitchens. If you have granite or perhaps a marble countertop, copper makes an excellent compliment.
Ideas for Adding Color
Other things you can do to make your kitchen in the build a house project a little bolder include painting the cabinets in bold colors, or placing colorful tiles in various parts of the kitchen. If your kitchen is basically one color you can add dashes of bold colors in the kitchen in order to make it look livelier. You can add color to the kitchen by installing attractive drapes made from bright colors or containing colorful patterns. While shopping for items or paint for your kitchen it is important to remember that the light in your kitchen can affect how the colors actually look. Bright and bold kitchen colors can beautify your kitchen but add some softer colors in order to achieve some type of a balance in your kitchen.

2 Easy Projects for First Time DIY Home Improvement
Paint a Room
Painting is by far the cheapest and easiest way to change the look of a room and finished basement. New furniture, new flooring or other such projects can cost an arm and a leg but paint is around $20 a gallon which can easily be enough for a medium 10 x 10 room.
For your first DIY home improvement projects, buy the paint in the color you wish to have and ask the salesperson at the home improvement store to recommend which finish is best for you. For high traffic areas like a kitchen for instance, an egg shell finish is great because it is easy to wipe clean. For a more serene area of your house, such as a bedroom, a flat, matte finish is a better choice because it can give a more peaceful look to your special area.
After you have chosen your paint for Basement Wall, your DIY home improvement plan will need paint rollers more than anything else. Choose a large enough size with which you can easily paint a large W on your wall. Too small a roller will make your DIY home improvement project take forever. A size which is too big for your hands will also impede efficiency. You need not buy special drop cloths if you have any spare fabric lying around at home. You would however want to buy a good painting tape as that will help you get neat corners and save your base boards and door frame from getting paint on them.
Try a new paint effect such as sponge painting, corduroy effect, stone wash etc so that you go beyond the plain wall. If you are hesitant about your DIY home improvement project such as painting, then you can watch a video online or attend a workshop t your local home improvement center, often free of cost.
Update Light Fixtures
If you want to update the look of your home with a simple DIY home improvement project, change your light fixtures. You could either get more contemporary looking lights or you could take down your current ones, tape the glass and then spray paint the metallic parts of the fixture a different color. Always attempt this DIY home improvement outdoors so that you do not have to inhale too many paint fumes.
The light fixtures in your bathroom and Basement can also be given a face lift by just changing the bulbs to a more incandescent lighting to give your bathroom a relaxing, dreamy feel. When you need bright light for shaving or make up application, you can make use of a brightly lit magnifying lamp instead of spoiling the ambiance of your bathroom.

Some Thoughts About Home Improvement & Maintenance
Some of the things we do in our homes like Electric Work are considered home improvement and other things are considered maintenance but it can be said that, in the end, doing maintenance will usually lead to home improvement. Let me give you an example of the relationship between home improvement & maintenance. I have cats and when they were kittens they decided that certain spots on my rugs were litter boxes. After much effort, and swearing, I got them to use the litter box but the damage to the rugs was done.
I tried maintenance like cleaning and things like that but in the end I wound up cutting huge chunks of my fairly new rugs up to get rid of the smell and stop the cats from damaging more of the rugs. My wife loves hardwood floors so now she has decided that since the cats have ruined the rugs, and my attempts to clean the rugs have not been totally successful.
We will now have hardwood floors. That is the relationship between home improvement & maintenance, sometimes continued maintenance on a problem area can lead to an act of home improvement that, in the end, was probably the best thing for that whole situation in the first place.
Another example of the relationship between home improvement & maintenance is my back porch gutters. I have my roof, which of course has gutters on it, and then my deck is all in my back yard. I live in snow country so the snow can accumulate in the gutters if not watched. I have been maintaining the situation for a couple years by getting a telescoping device that allows me to get the snow off my roof so it cannot get into my house by melting.
But, it is obvious that this maintenance is temporary and home improvement of Attic by way of new eaves is necessary. But this is the dynamic between home improvement & maintenance, you do maintenance for as long as you can and then eventually home improvement is needed. It is just a matter of getting a good feel for that relationship between home improvement & maintenance and knowing when it is time to do home improvement.
Don’t Wait Too Long
Sometimes maintenance measures may seem like they are working but then you find out the hard way that they are not. If you have been patching your roof for some time you may think everything is fine but water could be getting in where you can’t see it and then that home improvement & maintenance dynamic needs to shift to home improvement before real damage, or more damage, is done. It is important to always know when it is time to stop maintaining and start improving.
Keep an eye on your house and do not dismiss any potential problem as small or petty. Sometimes it is the smallest problems in the Plumbing that grow up to be the biggest headaches and that is something you need to understand in the balance between home improvement & maintenance.

How Does Home Improvement Financing Work?
Have you wanted to finish your basement for a long time? Do you need a safe place for the kids to play when it snows outside? Or do you want to make a home office, guest room or home gym there? Regardless of what you want to use it for, a finished basement will solve many of your problems. However, you have asked for estimates from a few contractors and it is just beyond your budget.
This is where home improvement financing can help. You can apply for a home improvement financing loan from your bank usually as a home equity loan or a personal loan. Shop around for the lowest interest rates so that you do not have to pay too much over the principal.
Or one can take advantage of home improvement financing for Attic when they apply for a credit card. This could be a new promotional credit card with 0 % APR (interest) on purchases or it could be a credit card from a home improvement store lie Lowes or Home Depot.
The advantage of the credit card from Visa, MasterCard or any other such issuer is that you can use the credit line to pay the contractor or for any furniture or any other thing you need for your home improvement projects. However, the advantage of getting home improvement financing from Home Depot and the like is you get special promotions such as 10% off your entire purchase the day you apply and other such marketing promotions so that your dollar stretches further. They often give your 12 months no interest payments or 12 months no payments if you buy things on their store card.
Borrower Beware
However, as with any other loan or credit card, be very careful of the repayment terms and interest rates. For instance if your buy a $2000 refrigerator and the financing terms you get state that you have 0% interest for 12 months, make sure you pay it off in full before the 12 months are up. This is because in case you do not, interest will be charged from the day you purchased it and that will be a big blow in your home improvement financing plans.
Home improvement financing for Stairs work is a great idea to add value to your home. However, you have to know what you are signing up for. Whether it is a credit card from a bank, a personal loan or a store card, make sure you pay it off within the time specified. If you feel you will not be able to make the payments, then hold off on the home improvement plans until you can.
